Content Content Content (by Bruce D. Weinberg)

And so we begin, at the beginning….

During the Fall Semester of 2013, the students and faculty of Isenberg UMass Amherst’s Fundamentals of Marketing course (MK 301) shall collaborate on creating content for this blog.

Each student will write an “honest effort” blog post of about 200-300 words (or more if desired) about a marketing-related topic of choice; and, each student will post at least one “thoughtful” – brief is acceptable — reply to a blog post written by another student in the course. The reply could be to a blog post itself or to another reply on that blog post.

Blog post topics may pertain to any marketing-related topic desired, including current events, an advertisement or ad campaign, personal experiences (e.g., customer service encounters), the experiences of others, marketers, etc. The ideal blog post will include content that is interesting and capture’s a reader’s interest. Including images is welcome. Each post is to be an original work; references to others’ work(s) should be acknowledged.

The key ingredient or secret sauce to a great blog is great content. There are people who purchase books and magazines for their covers. And, a wonderful cover or image deserves praise. However, as a friend of mine, Michael Katz of Blue Penguin Development (n.b., a shameless plug), likes to say/ask, do you think Harper Lee’s To Kill A  Mockingbird sold millions of copies and earned a Pulitzer Prize and wide acclaim because of its book cover?To_Kill_a_Mockingbird

Nah, he would say, “it’s the content.”

We look forward to your writing!
We look forward to your sharing!
We look forward to your learning!
We look forward to your marketing!
We look forward to your experimenting!
We look forward to reading compelling content!
